Wheelz is an exhibit at The Columbus College of Art and Design.
The exhibit features a number of hotrods and custom bikes. There
is also some memorabilia and a display of Von Dutch's work; the
pioneering hot rodder and painter, not the new motorcycle and
clothing company that bought the rights to his name and are now
cashing in on the "biker" craze. There are several big name car
and bike builders represented here, including Indian Larry, Bruce
Mullins, Tom Langton, Eddie Trotta, Boyd Coddington and Barry
Lobeck. I'm not really sure why they were selling Michael Lichter
books, he wasn't there, nor were any of his photos.
These photos were taken on the opening day. CCAD had hoped for
a large turnout of people with their own custom cars and bikes, but
the crowd was pretty thin when I got there. I don't think very many
people were aware of the show. Even though the exhibit is
somewhat small, cars take up a lot of space, I think it is still worth
seeing.
If you are interested, the display lasts through December 11, 2005.
Admission is free.
